Eco Adventskalender December 19th: „You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.“ – Jane Goodall
What’s your decision for today? What will you do? Or don’t do? Whatever you do – or don’t do – does make a difference.
While you go out shopping, it’s just your decision, it’s only your own responsability e.g.:
Local food, food from far away?
Items with a lot of packaging?
Single-use plastic packaging?
Meat, no meat?
Organic or „cheaper“ conventional products?
Lots of stuff?
Always new items or sharing items?
At your workplace, e.g.:
Will you just watch and let things happen?
Do you accept corruption?
Do you accept unfair treatment, do you accept gender-biased decisions?
Do you sit still or do you raise your voice to point out problems and solutions?
Do you speak up for other who are too shy or too weak to speak?
Do you come up with ideas and solutions to make the world a better, healthier, safer, and cleaner place?
In your daily life, e.g.:
How do you treat people around you?
Do you just complain all the time or do you solve problems?
Do you always give 100%?
Do you just let things happen – and hope/expect that others will do everything?
In case of mistakes – do you say „Sorry, I was wrong! I’ll correct it!“ or do you just blame others and/or hope that nobody finds out about your mistake?
Regarding environment, e.g,:
Did you chose an electricity provider which provides energy from renewable sources? Does the provider invest money in more renewables?
Which car do you drive, how much does it consume, what about exhaust gases?
What about windows, heating, etc. in your home? Do you save energy, do you waste electricity, energy, water?
At the end of the day, each of us can do a thousand things each day. It’s up to us, each of us.
We can all try to make the world a better place.
Just do it!
